Signum Substratum and the Shadow of the Hawk

Signum Substratum has returned. This is part one of a new series of shows, that will be epically titled, of long duration, and hopefully will tell a potent musical story that will carry over into the next episode. Today is The Shadow of the Hawk. While the triumphant bird of prey streaks the skies in its display, it is the shadow that touches the ground.
There is something that I have learned about being young and still in love with music. I have before tried to be an aficionado of the roots of the music that touched me, going far into the past that I didn't belong to, hoping to capture its meaning and share it with others. But the truth is that I can only speak to my generation and what has touched my generation directly. At the surface it seems that the generation has no identity, but it does has a voice, and I want to use these next string of shows to try to find that voice. This is the first attempt.

Apparently themeless and without minded thread of music. Perhaps you can have a nice schizophrenic confabulation connect the dots for us. Don't you just love being delusional and how you can make sense out of anything? It's my favorite part of what the spanish term "locura". I can give you a bicycle, a typewriter, organic deodorant, misshaped wickless candlewax and a book on thelema poorly translated into mandarin, and you can come up with a seamless explanation of why you should kill your best friend. Just a thought.

The equinox began my 23rd time around the sun. So a little self-indulgence was inspired.... today we will be listening to music originated in my own little angle of existence, various musical projects of my own or ones in which I've collaborated or played a part. All of this is unreleased material. Some soon to be released, others never to be released. Enjoy.
